We are inviting
community investment now.
Capital investment
is needed to help establish this project. We can now offer you the
opportunity to buy a share in this exciting new initiative.
We have to date raised over £8,000 and
have over 100 community shareholders.
Shares can be purchased for as little as £50
or as much as £20,000. Under our democratic structure, however,
these shareholders would both only have one equal vote.
Under this form of company, we cannot offer
dividends, but aim to pay interest when we are in profit.
An additional investment
of £25,000 is now required, to:
* establish protected cropping areas (polytunnels)
* plant windbreaks and orchards
* ground preparation to improve soil fertility
* buy tools for cultivation and weeding
* create access tracks, gates and a parking area
* set up a borehole
* establish renewable energy supply to power classroom and
water pumps
Staff and other revenue costs will be met
from grants that have already been secured and from income generated
by sales of produce.
Our business plan, which has been prepared
by experts in horticultural enterprise and local food marketing,
indicates that the Market Garden will become self-financing within
4 years.
