Riverside Market Garden is a new ethical model for sustainable local food production to make more fresh food available to the local community.

It's located on 5 acres at St Hilary, 10 miles west of Cardiff, and production is well under way in our second year - we're already suppluing restaurants in Cardiff and local people with our box scheme. Join us - get involved as a shareholder, customer or volunteer.

Sophie and Tim

We've just appointed our new grower and 'knowledge transfer' officer Sophie Durnan - who's also supported by her partner Tim who you'll see at our veg stalls and delivering the veg boxes.

Welcome to Sophie!

Within five years the Market Garden will become a self financing community-owned business supplying top quality seasonal vegetables to local people.

We are offering individuals and organisations a chance to invest in this social enterprise in an easy two-step process . Shares start at £50 and can be paid for with PayPal or credit/debit card.

The site will produce a wide range of organic vegetables, with a focus on higher value crops such as salads, and some fruit. Some of this produce will be processed into soups, sauces or other products.

The polytunnels will allow us to extend the growing season and also to produce Asian and Caribbean vegetables that meet the needs of Cardiff's diverse ethnic communities.

Linked to the growing, we will also offer training and care placements, with educational visits for schools and colleges, and fun days out for community supporters.
